Thomson Holidays is axing flights and reducing the number of seats it charters from many UK regional airports. The UK's largest charter holiday company plans to cut flights from Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, East Midlands, Aberdeen and Edinburgh airports in response to the slump in demand following the terrorist attacks on the United States, reports the Glasgow Herald. A spokesman for Thomson Holidays told the paper that its programme was changing 'day-to-day' as the company reviewed its summer 2002 schedules. She also revealed that Thomson is considering last minute changes to its winter programme of flights. Some holidaymakers now face the prospect of travelling to airports further afield in order to catch their flights abroad. Affected travellers will be offered £20 per person in line with the company's fair trade policy.
