I am being offered a set of telex 850. I fly jets day in and out using older 750, with no cancelling system. Can anyone recommend or not these ANRīs for jets? Any suggestions?

I used the 850s for about a year on the 747-400. Many people have told me that they think the 747 is fairly loud anyway compared to other jets. I really like the 850s. They don't need batteries, are light weight, easy to pack, and comfortable. They are nothing like wearing a set of Bose, but I don't think you really need that in a jet. The 850s make radio communication much easier and reduce fatigue.

my 2 cents :ok:

You should find plenty out about Telex 850ANR on a search here. I use them, they are fine. I have doubts about their robustness where the earphones pivot from the headband- the pivot is buried in plastic/bakelite stuff and mine broke there very easily, shattering the plastic. It is unrepairable unless sent to Telex USA, cost unknown. If you get a good price, they're good.

Rainboe, A propos repair, I broke my 850 ( a fine headset I think) on a LHR-SFO. Sent it to Telex who repaired it free of charge and replaced all the bits that might wear out (ear covers etc). Posted back to the UK also FOC.
I have given up earplugs in the cruise (747-400) now I'm using the 850.

Thanks for the info, I might give them a try. I was a bit worried about the platic bits, might just have to be extra careful!

Can anyone confirm if they work OK inside a 752 or 763 without hot mike option?

Yes they do, I used them on a 752 last year.
