Help required! Any Lycoming guru's about?

Headscratching...!

I have a 6 pot Lycoming fitted to a Pawnee. It is a new engine fitted 2 weeks ago, the run in flights have been completed iaw the flight test papers.

However, the engine suffers from high oil temp, with no great loss in pressure. The previous engine was also running a little high.

Has anyone else suffered the same problems and have a cure, failing that does anyone have any ideas?

Before You go bonkers on mechanical probs, just check the sender or gauage is not at fault.

You might have a perfectly good engine but not so good instruments!

And the best way to do that is with an infra red thermometer.
Available from almost any good tool store.

I'm no expert, but I know someone who had a very similar problem (high oil temp on recently fitted engine) and fixed it by flushing the oil cooler.

Are new baffle plates and baffle seals fitted?
Apart from the sender/gauge that's another part which is usually swapped and since the previous engine was running hot also......

After replacing/testing several components it appears that the Vernatherm was U/S on fit.

A/c is now up and running.
