B717 and MD 82

I'm just wondering how these two aircraft compare in terms of handling. They look the same, however, obviously they have different engines and different flight and cockpit systems.

And does the B717 have a rear door like seen in this picture?

This one has the door but it is an emergency exit ramp rather than stairs.
