Please, I don't want to start an argument about ex-Pats vs. Right of Abode, etc.

I'm just wondering how many currently qualified B-727 crews who have the right of abode in the EU are looking for jobs at the present time.

The reason I ask this is a friend of mine said he didn't think there were very many, if any. I thought from reading PPrune over the past few yrs that there were plenty of guys out there.

What do PPruner's think?

Well I have always felt that if there is a need for a pilot somewhere and not enough qualified people locally, you should ba abe to work anywhere. EU or UK being no exception.

Here's one, born in England.

727 qualified (among others), experienced, current just returned from overseas and not finding it at all easy to get a job.

My personal impression is that there is a shortage of experienced crew but the airlines leave it until the very last minute to recruit.

It is very difficult trying to weigh up the pros and cons of staying and waiting in this country or risking another unknown foreign contract.

I would love to know just how many applications are recieved for each position when, say DHL, advertise and how many of those are serious.

EU citizenship, current and Q in the 727...flying in the U.S and glancing across the pond, but it's hard to get a hold of who's hiring and pay issues.

Have a pretty good time over here in S.E U.S though.

Capt B and seupp,

you both have said it better then me, but I think you hit the nail on the head.

they wait until the last, and then only the guys currently available send their apps in.

i too would love to know the number of apps for a particular opening, and thus the purpose of my question.

thanks guys...

If you're 72 qualified give Air Contractors a ring because we're not exactly flush for left seaters at the mo'(if you don't mind dossing around the night skies of Europe on a cheese sandwich and a bottle of water!)
