Hi all,

Many of you on the FlyUK have been into Bute over the weekend and may have noticed the windsock.

The old one's harness cables frayed away and the tired and dirty sock fell to the ground.

Fergus McCann organised the rescue and here's a video of its return!

ps If you've ever landed at Bute, you'll know there's no landing fee. But the Bute Estates appreciate a donation to Beachwatch Bute. You can post a cheque to Beachwatch Bute care of Fergus (or myself) c/o Strathaven Airfield, Strathaven ML10 6RW and we''ll pass them on.

Bute has to be one of the nicest airfields in Scotland (along with Oban, Glenforsa, Dornoch, Insch, Perth, Strathaven, Plockton to name but a few). I remember going on a mass fly-out from Perth and the Glasgow Radar controller complaining that she had multiple contacts heading to Bute ( we were outside CAS) and no one was talking to her.
Not the easiest of fields to get out of but worth the effort if you and your plane can cope with the short runway and the downslope. Then a short walk to the hotel for lunch.

Brilliant :)

I miss my wee visits to Bute :( .... that's what I get for putting fancy big shoes on ! If Strathallan is do-able then maybe Bute in a swiftish westerly .......

PS I see the wind is coming from your end ..... so to speak :}
