If your either IFR or VFR, what is the rule on departing the airport in the traffic pattern? Example: Taking off runway 9R (which has a Right traffic pattern to seperat itself from 9L's pattern) and your on course is to the north? What does the tower expect? Lastly if you do depart in right pattern when do you start your turn north? Thanks guys :)

If you're IFR, you follow your clearance.

If you're VFR, you follow any tower clearance or published local procedure. If you have neither, you might look at the published IFR SIDs for some idea of what the IFR traffic is doing, so you stay out of their paths. If still in doubt, ask Tower!

For VFR.
At my home airport, where I keep my private airplane, it has two parallel runways 22L and 22R.
If I depart 22L, the tower will want to know my direction of departure.
If I desire a left downwind departure, I ask for same, and is normally approved.
However, if I want to make a right turn out, this will interfere with departures on the parallel runway.
In this case, the tower will advise when a right turn is approved.
