Mods, feel free to move this thread as I am not exactly a wanabee but have no commercial aviation experience.

I am presently a fairly long serving pilot in the RAF with a full Medical. However, I have recently, after a considerable battle, been granted a Class 1 Medical with the restriction that I must fly with a co-pilot.

Thankfully I am not looking for a job outside at the moment but was just wondering if such a restricted medical is a show stopper for getting a civilian job or not a problem as long as you have experience.

Thanks for any input.

Just a thought...

How are you placed for an FAA medical?

If you are planning to fly biz-jets rather than airliners, then it might be worth pursuing the FAA route and looking for work on convenience-flagged aircraft...

Otherwise, I think you'll find the reactions, both overt and otherwise, will vary considerably from one potential employer to the next...
