I'm trying to plan a route from France (RLP) into Switzerland (WIL) in an unpressurised aircraft. All goes well at FL90 except for a segment of W110 of about 10 miles between HR (Hericourt) and LUMEL across the border, which apparently has an MEA of FL150. I can see no terrain or restricted airspace that would require such an MEA.

Does any one know of an operational reason for the restriction? One possibility is to file that short segment VFR -- would that work?

Just guessing here:

Basle Arrival Airspace is in that region up FL140

Not having looked at the map I would guessflightsearch is correct. It's not allowed to file below 150 for an overflight o that airspace. Normally not a problem, traffic permitting. Might be an idea to phone Basel to check on the day of departure

Thanks guys. That looks very plausible as an explanation.

Does anyone have a contact point, preferably email, for the controlling ATS please? I don't even know where to start!
