View Full Version : Low level spot winds for Spain

Unfortunately the Met Office's Form 214 stops in northern Spain. I require a spot wind chart (up to FL100) for the south of Spain - I know that DWD.de has this, but it's a subscription service.

Does anyone know if this information is available from a free, public source?

Many thanks in advance.

Go to Oceanor (http://seawatch.mg.uoa.gr/) and select the winds at surface, 850HPa(5000') or 700Hpa(10000') from the first drop-down and the date/time from the other drop-down to get a graphical chart.

Maybe of some use?

The speeds are m/s so simply double the number to get knots

Certainly useful, thanks. The key is not forgetting to double up the m/s figures!

Load a forecast sounding (or several) for your flight from here:
Soundings from ESRL/GSD (http://rucsoundings.noaa.gov/)
(use GFS as the input data source)

Click on the "get text" button, you'll get a pop-up window giving you the forecast wind direction & speed at various pressure altitudes.
