I can't understand why so many people are negative about a feat of endurance over hostile terrain by a 61 year old man.

I don't know if it's meant as cheap a jibe, but the size of an aircraft has nothing to do with FTLs or FDPs, they only apply to Public Transport and as this was a private category flight they are totally irrelevant. Why not come out and congratulate the man for doing something different and challenging in completing this flight in a single engine aircraft over hostile terrain with little or no SAR cover over much of the route in a record time?
