For those who flew out of Ipswich and the local area in the 50s and 60s
I understand that Stan Ward died on 9th May at around 2000hrs. I have no other details.

He sent me on my First solo in Aug 66!

Sad news indeed. Stan finished off my FIC in the autumn of 1960 at Ipswich using the McAully FG Tiger Moth. A couple of decades later it was a priviledge, as an FIE, to renew his instructor rating.
He was a real enthusiast and perhaps the finest Auster "crazy flying" display pilot ever. I will always remember his hilarious act seen on many occasions. Another WW2 trained flying instructor veteran whose skills benefitted so many of us over the years.
