I was asked for good references to the subject of what to do after the accident, in so far as survival, signalling, recovery etc. Could do with some help from you people on this forum. I have learned that there are some great resources to be found here...

From memory, here's what's in the flying order book:

- Don't leave the aircraft. If you have to leave the aircraft, make sure it is properly secured. If in doubt, hire a security company on the spot - insurance will pay for that.
- Warn the appropriate emergency services including ATC. Use a relay aircraft if necessary.
- Warn the owner/operator
- If applicable, prevent or limit fuel spills
- Don't talk to the media
- Don't give statements to police or others without having talked to the owner/operator, or an attorney hired by the owner/operator.

Don't give statements to police or others without having talked to the owner/operator, or an attorney hired by the owner/operator.

Quick point here

Any attotney hired by the owner/operator is hired to protect the interests of the owner/operator and not your interests as the pilot. If you feel you need an attorney get your own one.

The on site security thing is a good point and easily forgotten, more than one G/A pilot has pulled off a good field landing with little or no damage to come back in the morning to find some yob has torched the aircraft.
