Hi To All.

Just have a quick question. What is the general thought on wearing your airlines ID badge while off duty , in a foreign airport? I recently had an expierence while wearing my ID badge(Orange,lanyard from LGW..say no more) in Atlanta Airport & was given discounts on Duty Free & was taken out of a huge security line and brought to the top.
Im sure I shouldnt wear it off Duty,but what are your thoughts?

That may not be great idea, your id is meant to be used only when on duty(according to the gestapo at LHR anyway) using it at any other time can lead to it being confiscated.. as i found out

I have found that in the US you will get a discount at airport stores and eateries. In Malaysia it will get you into most bars without paying a cover charge and let you walk past any lines. In the UK it will get you dirty looks and ****ty treatment. (Maybe its not because of the badge though, it happens when I don't wear it as well).

Don't wear it, just show it when you think it will get you a discount. Many places as you say offer discounts to crew and offering proof that you are crew is no offence in my mind. However wearing an ID is stretching it a bit. By wearing an ID on an airport you are immediately recognisable by the public as some sort of an 'official', if not only to ask you where the nearest toilet is :}

Anyway, that's my view.
