777Fs to the desert

If you want to get an idea of just how bad and how far the air cargo industry has fallen just check out Boeing's announcement that they have parked new 777Fs in the desert. China Southern is one carrier backing off before delivery, Air France and others are also contemplating it. Yep, it is bad out there!

I have seen 2 seperate B777Fs ready at Boeing for AeroLogic. What do
you mean they cant get any? I thought the problem with the startup was with the AOC???

First delivery for AeroLogic is still as planned (or replanned after the strike) for mid May so where's the problem??

EK only own a handful of B744F's, They lease the remaining from Atlas :)
So just return them to them

According to flightglobal, most of the desert aircraft belong to leasing companies in between contracts. An aircraft will always find an operator, it's just a matter of how much you want to charge.

Well,. . . the -400F is somewhat a different animal. For openers: It can carry 20t more than a B777-200F; it has a larger volumetric capacity; and its nose loading door can accommodate over sized cargo rigs. Also, the -400 is not limited by ETOPS rules. :ooh:

Dont know about Europe, but here in OZ, Majority of Freight is through the Door, Not the Nose. They can accomadate maindeck pallets from the B744F aswell i believe, same size door.
It may Carry 20T more, but how much more fuel is it burning, i am sure there are pros and cons for both.
B77F's will replace alot of the Classic Freighters i believe :)

OO-THC and THD leased from TNT and N408MC, N415MC, N493MC, N497MC all leased from Atlas, which two do they "own"??

They Defiently own 2 Min :)Check superspotter's post, he/she confirms what I said before, and that is that EK only wet leases 744's from TNT and Atlas. There are no 744's with A6 registration in EK livery, the only A6 registered 744's are operated for the Royal Dubai Air Wing.

Dont know about Europe, but here in OZ, Majority of Freight is through the Door, Not the Nose.Why should any airline buy one specific aircraft to serve a part of the world inhabited by ±25 million people? No offense, but the world does not stop at Oz or Kiwiland. ;)

I know the world does stop in Oz land, was just proving a point, i said i dont know what happens in the rest of the world, but we dont use the nose much for loading.

Just laziness really using the nose :) unless u have oversized Cargo

They don't 'own' 2 B744F, but they have substantial head lease on 2 a/c but sub-contract the flying to TNT. EK Freighter fleet details, available from various sources across the web:

OO-THB -> pure wet lease from TNT (in TNT orange colours)

OO-THC -> dry leased by EK from AirCastle (was Guggenheim), in EK colours, operated by TNT on sub-contract alongside THB and OO-THA (TNT's own aircraft - also in Orange livery)

OO-THD -> same as THC in EK livery.

Atlas wet leases (now) 4 various tail number B744F to EK as well. (Used to be 5 and a -200F too.) Some of these also in EK livery, some in Atlas livery (N493MC?)

EK sold their 3x A310F to Kuzu recently, and also just received first B777F (A6-EFD) and another to come this summer. (All in Ek livery on A6 reg)

Same EK pax B777 crews fly the B777F.....
