What do you do when you are rostered to fly with a complete ******* **** that you can't stand.:{

Do you

a) phone in sick or
b) turn up and grin and bear it.

You don't have to do either. Just turn up to work, be professional and then go home. You don't even have to speak to him except when it is necessary to do the job.

It might help if you tell us why he is a ******* ****.

You could do what one Eastern MIA-based crew did. Watch him leave the employee parking lot, not description of car. Call the highway patrol and report a drug deal involving that car and that he left towards Naples. In the '80s, said Corvette was rather well gone over by the FHP. That cooled him a might.

Just do your job. One day the seats might be reversed

Is he looking forward any more to flying with you? Do you think he regards you as a PITA t*****r he has to spend the next 12 hours with, somehow? So why don't you be professional and go in and do your job and rein in your ego, because that is what your customers are paying for, and only by working (successfully) with a wide range of people will you pick up the responsibility and professionalism to have the maturity to be a captain yourself one day and be able to work effectively with a wide range of copilots.

It comes as a shock when you are promoted when you suddenly learn that there are just as many t*****rs in the right hand seat as you feel are in the left hand seat.

Yup, 'tis a fact.
I have one response for these types...'gear up and shut up.'
The others?
They are left to their own decisions, IE: if they then paint themselves right and truly into a corner during approach, it is up to them to get out of the problem without bent metal.
They learn, soon enough.:E

On 'Terms n endearments' Mona Lot states "I am a Captain, I have been for some time".

And you're scared to fly with someone else? You're the captain, you set the flight deck tone, you make it work. That's one of the many reasons you get the 4 rings and the higher pay.

Does that sound a bit harsh? Oh well.

Good luck next wk!!

If this person is in fact a captain she is not qualified to command

pynchat, you have a rather naive understanding of how things work!
