And providing you speak to Farnborough LARS (132.8) and you are positively identified, you still can.

Thanks - that's a relief.

Will President Obama be landing at Stapleford, Biggin Hill or Damyn's Hall?

Has anyone seen the RAT for next week. We have six aircraft going from Damyns Hall to Friedrichshafen on thursday. Kind of causes a problem.

See the comments elsewhere by phoning Farnborough.

Farnborough must have great radar if they can identify someone on the ground at Stapleford !!

Same here in the Netherlands on Tuesday for the Afghanistan conference. Never seen a prohibited area with a radius of 30 nm (SFC-FL65) in my (admittedly rather short) flying career. Both Schiphol and Rotterdam, which are within this radius, are PPR.

Slightly off topic, the roads here are going to be chaos on Tuesday as well. They're closing down the left-lane of the two major highways leading to The Hague (A4 and A13) to whisk the 60-something delegations from Schiphol and Rotterdam airports into town between 6 and 10am, and reverse the whole thing in the afternoon. Parts of these highways are only two lanes wide so the police is already warning for massive traffic jams.

I understand that the allocation of a discrete squawk prior to or immediately after departure followed by an early call and a squawk ident would suffice. Farnborough have access to the Debden radar for the LARS North task and so the low level coverage is not quite down to the ground but not bad.

Apologies for the late report back on last Thurday

Despite earnest questioning by the powers that be at that happy old age home for Cessna's near a circular motorway near a forest patronised by loud motor cycles (I digress) - as to whether I had sufficient experience to talk to Farnborough Radar and set a squawk code (obviously I looked the type who had spent all his flying time in a non-radio Tiger Moth), the special procedures were no problem at all and FARN R provided a helpful "Traffic Service".

I was instructed to stay in the circuit until getting permission but in the event I had been all okayed by the time I reached circuit height after take off.

The weather was something else, though. I only got going well after lunch and then had to fly to Oxford and back at under 1800 feet.
