Hi,
Have a look at www.atsb (http://www.%3Cb%3Eatsb%3C/b%3E).gov.au/aviation, the crash of AJG in NSW Australia.
Much more detailed inspection and testing by the owner in cooperation with engineers has shown that the interplane strut separated at 800' in straight and level stable flight. The new report has gone to DH and to the ATSB.
In the analysis of the accident it was stated that the interplane strut was found 73M from the wreckage due to separation at impact and rebound - since proved to be impossible. It separated in flight, resulting in the top wing folding up and over the cockpit area, and total loss of control. The eye-witness accounts of "wing folding up"and the pattern of damage to the tree and wreckage showed that it was a catastrophic in-flight failure. Two young men died, and not due to pilot error.
Get the bolts on the interplane struts withdrawn and checked for corrosion, and a boroscope inspection of the spar if your wings are not totally rebuilt with modern glues.
Happy to get you a copy of the new report if you want one
