Hello,

We're looking to buy a portable document reader to use on the flight deck to supplement the in-built kit, and would appreciate any recommendations - either for or against any particular make or model - to help in the decision making process.

It won't be integrated at all, so will only be a Type 1 type EFB, probably hosting products like JeppView as well as a copy of Ops Manuals, MEL etc.

There seem to be a good variety of products available, both in terms of the kit itself (a tablet based PC seems to be the route we think is most optimal for our operation) but also in respect of products enabling a search of the files on it.

The difficulty is that it's difficult to evaluate whether things like the touchscreen functionality, back-lighting etc are actually cockpit-friendly without actually buying one and using it, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated to help us avoid making a mistake.

(For info, we're a privately owned biz-jet operation, one aircraft with no need to synchronise whilst down-route to a database held on a large computer at HQ.)

Many thanks,
