Echo Loading CPL Performance, Fuel SG

Hey everyone,

Just looking for a bit of help on something thats been bothering me. I'm about to sit CPL Performance and I'm having trouble with the specific gravity of fuel used for the different loading systems.

The ATC theory book uses a SG of 0.71 for Echo Loading, whereas the Bob Tait book uses a SG of 0.72. Adding to the confusion the Bob Tait supplement uses the 0.71 figure.

Can anyone advise me as to which SG to use for which loading system. ATM I am using 0.71 for all except Bravo which uses 0.72.

Use the one stated in ERSA.

The .01 differance isnt going to make enough difference to change the answer from wrong to right or vice versa. think about it........ thats one liter over a hundred. I cant remember the echo fuel quantity, but I doubt there would be three liters difference between full to empty.

0.72 got me through at 98%

If it worries you so much, use .715 - then you'll be equally close to both correct-enough-for-the-job SGs. :E

Haha, thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated. I'm just going to use 0.72 since thats what the ERSA uses so conversions will be easier I guess. I still wish they'd make it clearer though, just that extra bit of confusion in what is already a b&(*& of an exam.
