When you have to do a 180 turn on runway's end. and you have a turning pad.. you :

1) put the nose gear on the turning pad and turn into the runway?

or

2) keep the lnd gears on the runway and turn the nose gear into the turning pad?

thanks

Hi,

both are options for completing a turn, but best to follow the guidance in the flight crew training manual for the specific aircraft type.

Personally, i prefer to align the aircraft with the runway edge and then turn into the turning node.

Sometimes you have yellow line guidance, sometimes not. Things change accordingly to acft size also.
As told follow the FCTM suggestion.
Usually I maintain main gear on opposite rwy side and enter the nose gear into the pad. This is the suggested technique for my acft and gives me the benefit to be aligned with full rwy lenght available.
