Hi Guys,

Initially I thought I would post this in JB but I got scared of the reponses for a change.

Anyway, I want to make a wooden propeller about the size of a Piper J3 Cub prop. I have the wood and a hand plane (em planer) with which to carve the wood. I have the means to glue several chunks of nice wood together to make the layers and thickness - and that's about all I have.

Do any of you tech heads out there have and suggestions as to how to go about making the prop i.e ensuring the right dimensions from root to tip etc.

Before you all tell me to go buy one...it's for my pub not a real aeroplane :)

Any thoughts would be welcome!

Food for thought:

I once saw a Flottorp prop (on a Mooney M-18 Mite) made with alternating laminations of light-and-dark colored wood. Stunning, even elegant appearance. :ooh:
