hi guys,

could some one pls tell me the proper procedure to request start up clearance in LIRF.
the jepp charts mentions to request clearance from the tower and then you have to contact the ramp. only after this will the clearance be given by delivery.
is this really the case? sounds really confusing......

thanx

Sounds strange, to say the least.

I haven't been to Rome for about 2 years, but there was a strange procedure for start.

I think that they check when you call that you really are ready (using telvison cameras?) to stop people cheating and jumping the queue.

I don't have the chart in front of me, but from memory:

When all doors are closed and the tug is connected call Operator and tell them you are "ready to move". He/she will invariably say "standby".

5-10s later Operator will tell you to contact Delivery.

Delivery will give you your airways clearance and transfer you to Ground for pushback clearance.

I hope that is useful. I don't like to quote procedures on here unless I have the reference material in front of me, but I'm pretty sure that the above is correct.

All the best
