Aircraft landed back in to Alicante after airborne for 1 hour 10 minutes... (landed at 1500z)

Info boards show that it departed again (same reg) for Manchester at 1810z and is expected in MAN at 2110z.

Doesn't sound like an engine failure to me !

The newspaper, citing Aena sources (airport authority) did say that it returned and landed around 16h and after the engine failure was repaired it took off again around 19h (same plane).

Looks like a minor issue, perhaps.

Yeah, Another 'Non Event'

(Engines are like us humans and have a bad day at times)

Do they? I sincerely hope not! I expect (but don't assume) that my CFMs be 100% reliable, every day, don't you?

hard to imagine a full engine failure (presumably with shutdown) return and re dispatch same day. Something must be missing from the equation?...

Faulty instrumentation as opposed to faulty engine?

Sounds like a bird strike to me! Land to be safe, engineering inspection and boroscope, and off we go.

Although....I could be wrong..:)

WindShear,

There could be a million other reasons for this!!!

Not sure I would totally agree with that but I have to say I rarely have had any problems with mine.

Normally the problems are with oil, or the gearbox, or the IDG. CFM is certainly a bloody tough old engine!!

There could be a million other reasons for this!!!

That was entirely my point. Apologies for my under emphasism on the sarcasm.:ok:
