Hi,

I was hoping to find one nearer. Due you know if charterhall is still active? or is just a case of paying the farmer when you land?

Hi Scottish Flyer,

Have just checked my half-mil, Midlem is indeed only a couple of miles away from Selkirk... forgot about that one... well remembered India Mike!

Not sure what procedures are in place at Charterhall (or Midlem for that matter), it's definatly active though, anybody have any contact details etc.? Have only flown past it on a Navex (used it as a rather handy position fix!).

Hi Scottishflyer,

Charterhall is in Pooleys 2008 - also see Airfield (http://www.charterhall.net/air.htm)

Midlem is in AFE 2006 VFR Guide. The details are as given in PilotWeb (http://www.pilotweb.aero/content/pilotList/default.aspx?filter=J) (search the page for MIDLEM). The owner can be contacted by email: http://chxo.com/labelgen/[email protected]&font=ARIAL.TTF&size=12&bgcolor=%23ffffff&textcolor=%23000000&submit=create+image or tel: 01835 870361.

Greetings,
If you search Midlem at ;
Airplane-Pictures.net - Interesting Bits of Aviation World (http://www.airplane-pictures.net/)
a few Wallace Shackleton photos
of the airstrip can be seen.

Here's Midlem from the air (http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCC&cp=55.539863~-2.742923&style=h&lvl=16&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=7638800&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1)

Looks great - anyone know if you can get a cup of tea in Midlem? i.e Is it worth visiting?

I ask again, are refreshments available at Midlem, either on the airfield or in the village? I can't seem to find evidence of a pub/cafe in the village.

Hi,

I understand that it is privately owned. PPR is required I'm sure the owner would be happy to offer you tea and cake if you visited.

I wanted to go this week but the weathers not been kind.
