It depends what you fly in. I've landed at Gloucester and paid £12. I've also paid £57 + VAT!

All landing fees are shown in the Pooleys guide so that's a good place to start.

A couple of points: a free Gloucester landing fee can be had in the Oct Pilot magazine. (valid in Oct only).

A 172 at Gloucester is around £22, £8 last time I visited Compton Abbas and £10 at Bembridge.

Accommodation? Can only recommend at Bembridge. I have stayed at the Windmill Inn, Bembridge and the Sorrento Inn, Ryde. Both very good. For food don't miss the Crab and Lobster. (£5 taxi then walk back to the airport via the coastal path).

Good luck.

Dont land at Gloucestershire airport!!! Go West a tiny bit and land at Shobdon..... Rent a caravan, camp or its a short walk up the road to the local B&B/pub...

Landing fees are far cheaper than Gloucs....:D:ok:

Biggin? I wouldn't recommend it and my a/c is based there!
It's good as a base (Ops VERY helpful), but landing/parking is pricey.

And it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, with only a bus service or taxi as a means of escape.

I have been into Shoreham several times. Very friendly, and better escape routes out. A prety circuit to fly, too.

If you want to go to north Kent try Rochester. Friendly, cheap and a hotel on the airport boundary where, if you are lucky you can get a room overlooking the airport and keep your eye on your aircraft.

Shoreham is a great GA airfield on the south coast. If you and your friends are feeling adventurous, you can try a trip to le Touquet (45 minutes direct track) for lunch or an overnight stay.

Lots of hotels in Worthing near Shoreham and also in le Touquet, of course.

Landing fees at Shoreham around £18 as far as I recall. le Touqet only around £8.

At Breighton try the Loftsome bridge.
Loftsome Bridge Coaching House (http://www.loftsomebridge-hotel.co.uk)

At Compton try Glebe farm
Glebe Farm B&B in Ashmore, Dorset's highest village (http://www.glebefarmbandb.co.uk)

Compton Abbas: ten minute drive to Fovant and the Pembroke Arms. Good rooms, great food and beer - ask for Helen and Mike. Local pub but really friendly to guests.

Old Sarum: worth taking the journey into Salisbury. Plenty of bars and resturants and hotels. Lots of sightseeing and places of interest.

Both very friendly airfields. Ask for Angus at Old Sarum and Clive Hughes at Compton - a warm welcome awaits.:ok:

Gloucester's charges can be found at http://www.gloucestershireairport.co.uk/ScaleOfCharges.pdf

Cheaper if you buy fuel and, as already pointed out, free if you buy this month's Flyer.

There's a B&B less than half a mile away (Hope Orchard) and less than a fiver in a taxi will put you in reach of a wide range of hotels in Cheltenham from a Travelodge to the five star Queens.

Excellent range of facilities at the airfield, 6 runways, lighting, navaids, ATC, radar etc. not to mention the Transair shop and Aviator restaurant.

Hi,
The landing fees for Compton Abbas can be found here: Abbas Air: Price List (http://www.abbasair.com/flyingprices.html)

It's a little way from the airfield, but I can recommend the Ivy Cross House B&B in Shaftesbury - Welcome to Ivy Cross House B&B - Bed and Breakfast in Shaftesbury, Dorset (http://www.ivycrosshouse.com)

Hope it helps.
