At last the competition commission have said what the travelling public knew all along.
But what about for General Aviation - will it lead to more reasonable attitude to GA and more reasonable landing fees ? :ok: or Not

I doubt it. Business will only be interested in the big-earners - i.e. CAT - so if anything it may actually get worse for UKGA. Besides at major airports GA is not handled by BAA. I am not sure however what sort of cut, if any, is taken from the FBOs by BAA and if the FBOs merely set their own charges or if BAA has a say in matters.

What I would like to see overall is a reduction in landing fees for all catagories, which seems to be little more than a total utter racket, and an end to the rediculous "mandatory handling" charges for GA visitors at the major airports.

There again... I reckon we should wait to pass judgment once the dust has settled.

Further, it will remain to be seen who will buy the airports that are being proposed to be sold off... who would buy an airport in the middle of economic downturn? :hmm:
