Quick Q...If you fly an approach in alternate law, which changes to direct law at gear down...do you go straight back into alternate law when you select gear up on the subsequent Go around? Or only sometimes?

many thanks, Dunbar

Hello Dubar

You may find your answer in FCOM1 1.27.30 p3...

You stated correctly that when you lower the landing gear the system goes to direct law. The process is reversible if you can retract the landing gear.
If L/G information is not avaiable (LGCIU 1+2 or SEC 1+2+3 fault), the system will return to alternate law when flaps/slats are < Conf 2.

However, there are certain failures where gravity gear extension will be needed, which won't allow you to retract it. If gear is not up, control laws are direct. You'll have to go around in direct law.

So, I'd say "sometimes" :ok:

Thanks, thought so. No FCOM to hand just now, but will be sure to get it out on my return...
