I've always wanted to be an ATC. Got diverted into other fields, but now back in aviation as a despatcher.

I am very interested on the inside info on how to get into ATC but am worried my age will be against me. I am 31.

I read somewhere that joining NATS is one way, the second is to join a non-NATS airport as an Air Traffic Services Assistant, with a view to being sponsored to become an ATC officer. Financing it myself is out of the question right now.

How strict is the age restriction on NATS ?

Are there non-NATS airports outside of uk? Anyone know which ones?

Very grateful for help or advice. Thanks.

Er, all of them??

Best way in is usually through the door.

Sorry, couldn't resist; it's one of those mornings:\

I am 31.Well you've got 4 or 5 years to get your application in based on NATS current age limit which I think is 36, or not above 35? It's on their website somewhere.

If you are in Austria as your profile says, why not contact Austrocontrol, www.austrocontrol.at (http://www.austrocontrol.at).
