A lot of people in this area are reporting a low level pulsating sound that causes headaches and nausea. Not everyone hears it (including me) but are you guys using anything weird up here that could be causing it? It seems to be within a couple of miles radius of the field.

Not control signals for those aircraft that don't land at midnight is it? :)

Well, I expect it's the GE maintenance facility which is next to the tower (but outside the airport) which runs aero engines at high power and causes the ground and nearby buildings to shake. That, or the ATC microwave oven.

Best advice is to move. Ultra Low Frequency sound and vibrations and associated feelings of nausea and discomfort can be a precursor to seismic disturbance [earthquakes]..........maybe!

"Precursor to seismic disturbance". Hmm...
I suspect there are a few controllers up at Manchester who really hope this is the case. :E

ATC does not employ any equipment to produce such effects nor send "control signals" to aircraft!!

At West Drayton the on-site generator, which ran H24, produced low frequency noise which was audible for some distance. Perhaps Prestwick has something similar?

We used to experience something like you describe - terrible headaches and nausea caused by a dreadful wailing noise. They found out it was the local McRedhairy practicing his bagpipes!!!

It could simply be the collective sound of.... HUMAN FEAR.
A deep-seated, harmonious murmur of realization from the Prestwick Centre staff that, in 2010, a few ATCOs from Manchester will arrive on site to show them how to do it properly. :}

So, some ARE coming after all.

Back on topic, the GE engine runs certainly do cause some vibrations, it was bloody difficult to sleep at EGPK tower in the good old NATS days and engines have got bigger since I was there (88-91).

Here's something for the EGCC movers

The P&O ferry at Troon also has a low level rumble sound to it. Usually leaves around 2020 but can sometimes be a bit later.

Depending on the wind direction, you could be hearing it.
