Have a look at AIC 3/2004, part 2.

Legally, nothing; they are a single engine aeroplane with a piston engine. However a little bit of familiarisation training with someone who has experience on the type you are going to fly is a good idea.

If you are used to flying something that's three times heavier before you put people and fuel into it, and runs a low-revving Lycosaurus, then a Rotax-powered microlight will be a bit different. Do what the instructor tells you when landing it :ok:

Not quite true. The ANO makes a specific remark about this: You need differences training from a suitably qualified instructor.

You can't count the hours towards your JAR PPL SEP rating revalidation though can you?

Go VLA, all the advantages with none of the disadvantages.

Thanks for the info. At present I have a PPL G/A SEP, MEP , IMC and a PPL H .

The reason for asking for clarification is because I am setting up as an importer for a 3 axis ULM' (Microlights to UK folk) here in France. I would of course be getting checked out by the factory test pilot before launching off solo.
