I have a question about the GD. I will be travelling to Dubai as a non-operating crew to Dubai from Dhaka. I wanted to know can travel onto to Canada (seperatly by buying tickets) from the UAE based on the Gen Dec, or do i have to apply for visa before going to dubai. On the GEN DEc i can get into dubai, question is can i get out to a different destionation then where I started.

We used to split in Dubai sometimes, though as crew normally, but we each made sure we had a signed and stamped copy of the GD with our name on it from our inbound flight. There is usually a fist full of them with the ship's papers.

That is true IF you are manifested on the original GenDec with the operating crew, e.g., as a deadheader. Penned-in add-ons often are not accepted, so make sure you are on the original GenDec.
Take 2 copies FOR YOURSELF through Immigration. They will retain 1 and stamp the other and return it to you. Present it when you exit (either operating or commercial).
