View Full Version : Class 1.4 Cargo - U.K. to SCL?

Hi guys,
Anyone know if (and who/how) I can get 20kgs Cargo Aircraft Only explosives from the U.K. to Santiago, without routing via the U.S?
UN 0276, Class 1-4C, Packing Instruction 134.
It's used in an ejector seat if that helps.
It's all in accordance with IATA rules.
Ideally a regular service, I don't think either shipper nor consignee will stretch to a charter.
Cheers.

p.s. Not sure if this post is against forum rules, I hope not. Just grabbing at straws for someone who's reached a brick wall using his regular means.

I'm pretty sure FDX will do it, but it will transit through Memphis.

if memory serves well, only 1.4S is accepted for airtravel (at least on civilian pax a/c). Should look it up about cargo flights

744rules:- the poster stated that his cargo is "cargo aircraft only"!
Not all cargo operators accept explosives. Try Cargolux - they have flights to S.America.

Sorry, I saw my mistake after posting, but as the forum runned slow at that time, it thought the reply was not posted.

BTW, BB (CargoB) has flights to South America as well ex BRU

Try LanCargo, they have flights ex AMS/FRA into SCL.

Your main trouble will be getting it from the UK to the continent on the ferry... I believe it can be done, but expensive and needs to be investigated.

Try and get scl airport website up, and see what airlines go inthere
i havent got my dg book with me. can it not be repacked for ok pax?

also if it cannot go on airliners.net and search for freighters in there.

do AF have one ?
what about using UPS via air cargo trader?
or does dhl ema freighters go in there?

Thanks for all your feedback guys.
He's adamant that it's okay for CAO and that he's in accordance with IATA Dangerous Goods rules.

He has tried some of the suggestions already, but I've now put all this to him and just hope it helps him a bit more.
Thanks again for all your time, effort, and contributions.

You would have to dig very deep into IATA DG Regulations. Anything going via the USA (e.g. FEDEX, UPS) requires more than just proper packing and documentation, lots of permits and exemptions required.
Key is a proper MSDS, issued by the manufacturer.
Suggest to contact Cargo Training International

They should be able to help you, as they have very experienced specialist on hand.

Thanks for your reply.
That's one reason they don't want to transit the U.S. to avoid all that.
I've passed all the info to them now and I think they are negotiating a resolution as we speak.
:ok:

Slightly late I know, but for future ref, Martinair move a lot of Class 1 on their freighter STN/AMS, with onward connections to South America.

CV are your best bet, as it will be a pain to get it on an RFS to the continent.

If it's an ejector seat device, are you sure it's not 1.4s ???
