Zaz,

Our company normally uses International SOS (which also operates under the SMI) name, but as there are currently no international flights going from DNPO, they are usually taken to Calabar by helicopter first. Even if SOS can't do it themselves (not sure how things stand if you're not already registered with them) they're normally pretty helpful and will give you the contact numbers of the companies they use. Be warned though, if he doesn't have insurance, the flights are very expensive. If you're in PHC their offices are at the Intels camp on the Aba Expressway, about 1 km after Eleleme junction on the left hand side of the road.

Another company you could try is the UK based aeromed 365 in Crawley. Their 24 hour hotline is +44 8707 596999 or
Email: [email protected]

Good luck.

Zazoo,

I can concur with what MP has said. You could also try your own Nigerian company Critical rescue International. Their emergency number is 0808 2740000 or [email protected]

Thanks Guy's, thanks so much. We got AXA Assistance to move him out, they are sending a jet from Paris to Medevac him to London.

Mamaput, your right his not insured and family and friends had to cough out :eek::eek: euros!!!

The AXA people have been helpful and moved him to their ICU at Riverside clinic in Port Harcourt. Looks like quite a good setup with 2 french doctors on duty. They only deal with clients who are registered with AXA/EMC but after some friendly intervention agreed to evacuate him and took him into their care.

Thanks a million.

Hi all, sadly he passed away in the early hours of thursday morning. Apparently by the time we got him to the AXA/EMC guys his condition detoriated.

They did their best to stabilise him for repatriation but according to them the hospital that he had been with before we moved him did a poor job.

The AXA doctors were so helpful and I wished we had known about their existence days before, he was only 5mins away from their center in town, just down the road.

Such is life, if only!!!

Thanks again guy's, thanks.
