What is the system used in your units? Over here we simply keep a sheet of paper to keep notes on who's been workin on a given time; seems to be a bit old fashioned though.
Do other systems keep some sort of electronc logs of who's in charge of ATC position or is the paper doing the work fine?

At Swanwick TC we have OPM. Pasically your ID pass has a bar code on the back. Stick that in a slot next to the radar tube or position you are controlling and it records your hourse (and therefore your breaks).

They missed a trick though because it would have been great to use it to record the set up preference for the radar as individuals are different amd then change it automatically when you plugged in. Sometimes takes a couple of minutes to change some of the more flamboyant controllers settings!!

As we're NSL we don't get the system they use at Swanwick; we have to manually log in and log out on a PC.

Ayrprox - I'll have you know I did 33 minutes in one sitting today. Going to see the Union rep about it!

also only joking... it was ridiculously busy thanks to incompetent traffic management from the off going shift

Also you should note that at Swanwick TC we still use the piece of paper method too - although we have OPM it's only useful if it's working and also has some limitations...

Cheers,

Frunobulax:

In Maastricht we use a "Sign in/Sign out" tool. When you sit on the position, you enter your initials, and sign in - if your preferences are saved, they're automatically set with a click on the screen (brightnesses, window positions).
The system records the time on the position and keeps it in a database, that is accessable for you through the intranet, so you can keep track of your hours on different sectors - even the login/logout times. It also provides you with information about when will you lose your competency if you don't sit on the position anymore.

Pozdrawiam :)
