Popham --- A question about the big gate..

I thought I would look around Popham this afternoon and arrived at 17:45 to find a very impressive (but closed) entrance and an airfield that looked very quiet.

Was the airfield closed?? (It was perfect weather for flying, or so I thought)

The powered gate is new and I'm not sure what the out of hours procedure is now. Certainly if you're inside it opens when you drive up to it.

It's quite possible the a/d was indeed closed. Soil is clay and a few inches of melted snow is bound to have had a bad effect, as did overnight rain last weekend.
