FIC School 'ranking'

I've searched the FI threads and can't find an answer.

For those qualified FIs out there, particularly the more senior (CFI/School owner etc) is there a ranking, real or perceived, on which schools produce the highest quality/most consistent quality FI(R)s?

I'm not asking anyone to name good/bad/indifferent ones but I note that Barkston Heath is now offering the FIC which is just up to road and can cope with part time attendance (important for me.) The ability to daily commute pretty much on my own timeline is very attractive and they use the Firefly which is an added bonus.

Clearly, they have a tremendous pedigree with military elementary flying traning but does their 'new' status as a FIC provider for the civil sector carry with it any issues for those schools considering hiring a newly qualified FI(R) who graduates from Barkston Heath? Or is it sufficient that they meet the CAA standards and therefore reach the chinning bar?

DEFTS are not new boys. The links between the forces and DEFTS are strong. The RAF have been training instructors for years and the CAA syllabus is based on the CFS RAF syllabus (give or take the odd spin).

Your instructor will probably be someone with 20 years CFS experience.

All the aircraft are (relatively) brand new, you should have no qualms going there and you'll have a great time.

There are no metrics out there, merely people's personal perceptions and experiences of an organisation. Given most only ever do a course with one FTO, it is hard to compare one person's personal perception at FTO "A" with another's at FTO "B".
