View Full Version : List of Type Rating Costs?

I know, I should have saved it when I read the thread......

Someone was clearing out their attic/garage/hard drive and posted a list of the cost of type ratings which they had collected. For the life of me I cannot find it via the "search" facility.

Anyone point me to the correct thread (or start a new thread if they have an up to date list)?

Thanks.

Just got a quote from FSI for the Citation 680, $33,000 for the initial, $21,200 or so for the re-current 17 days for the initial, 4 days for the re-current. This quote came from Wichita, but I believe it covers Orlando.:)

Good Luck

I dunno whether the above mentioned numbers are still valid. I somehow have the suspicion that the prices have mounted significantly.

For example, a DA2000 type rating course costs 31,000 € these days which is roughly 46,000 $. For a G550 course you have to fork over 65,000 € (!) or 97,500 $. Hefty prices, huh?

Good news if you're from 'Euro-Land' or any other country whose currency is linked to the €: current exchange rates into the $ are good for us right now. Better check with the FTO. Good luck!

I originally posted the list of Type Rating providers some time ago on pprune. Therefore both that and any others that I posted would be somewhat out of date now. Nevertheless they still give a very good perspective of the kind of ball park figures you can expect and the associated providers. Note also that the majority of the posts were based upon the FAA system.

Here is another more recent list orientated towards JAA TRTOs, I've included it below to save you having to search pprune. Hope it helps folks.

Just come across an electronic brochure from Bond Aviation Servives which includes some type rating information. Though this brochure is about 7-8 months old it'll nevertheless give a general idea of what to expect before confirming the current price/course package with Bond....

B737 Classic £10,500+VAT
Base training 4,500+VAT

B737 NG £10,200+VAT
Base training 4,500+VAT

B757-200 £13,000+VAT
Base training £5,500+VAT

Some archived emails I also had on the system contained the following info from other TRTOs (remember these are not definitative, you'd need to contact the respective TRTOs but at least give people an idea or expectation of the cost)...

Cockpit4u
B737 EUR17,300
B737+MCC EUR19,700
Base training EUR5,300

Sabena Flight Academy
B737 (inclusive of Base training) EUR28,500

I hope that helps but one things for sure that's a lot of money and perhaps buying multi engine time would be better (just a thought) as it can get your voice heard across the board. A specific type rating puts you in an overcrowded and long line behind hundreds of others and ends up being expensive whether you get a job at the end of it or not. Anyway just trying to help and not biasing my comments on any one side of the argument. Sermon over

Since my position was recently eliminated, I may be looking at a Cessna Sovereign recurrent as an independent contractor. Does anyone have any recent numbers?
