I have a christmas cracker question and would love to know from anyone who can tell me when you see lets say 747- 436 what the heck does the last bit mean i know its a 400 series but why do the rest of the last two number mean i would love to know!

boring question but little things please little minds:)

I believe Boeing identify specific airline variants with the last two digits.

36 is the customer code for British Airways.
Of course, when the aircraft is sold, the customer code does not change.
