I seem to remember some time ago reading that an area controller in the UK should have have to deal with a maximum of 15 aircraft at any one time.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks

When I did Area Radar training, we all laughed when we heard RAF Area Radar Controllers worked a maximum of 4 tracks. But bearing in mind that's providing Radar Advisory/Information Service in class G airspace and co-ordinating whith other controllers doing the same thing, while 50 miles away, they could be doing an autonomous penetration of class A airspace, so it's not unrealistic.

When i was at latcc(mil) back in 96(boy time flys) 3 was the max, based o the unpredictability of the traffics routes, ie the pilot decided what he wanted and we would endevour to sort it. As for area, where i am now, i've not seen an exact figure as complexity can mean having 20 on, and little to do or 2 on and working like a one arm paper hanger!
