We Aussie ATCs are trying to negotiate industry discounts with airlines that fly Down Under. Does any one know if Air Canada gives you guys discounts? I know our Flying Rat(Qantas)probably don't give you anything.
Are there any other airlines that offer you discounts? I would really appreciate any help.
Cheers.

Hiya doggo...

I believe that NavCanada and Air Canada recently undertook to establish some manner of flight and/or pass benefits for controllers here in Canada.

Traditionally, there were familiarization flights offered, but no 'pass privelges' available - conflict of interest and all...)

You may also want to try contacting a controller from one of these sites:

Canadian Air Traffic Control Association (CATCA) (http://www.catca.ca/Innerpage.htm)
Canadian Air Traffic Controller's Web (http://www.squawkident.com/index1.html)

Apparently we were just given 2 "jumpseat" passes a year with air canada. These however, were extended to the entire company, not just the ATC. Most ATCO's will not use these, due to the fact that there is not a guarenteed seat in the back of the plane, and after about a week of the pilots always having to share the cockpit with people they may not want to have there, are gunna be pretty pissed. So i doubt that this will last more than a month or two before the pilots won't want people up there all the time. Plus since most ATC won't take those seats i doubt the pilots are gunna want to spend hours on end with the companies secretaries and janitors...
