Was it a Q400 or 100/200/300 series dash?

Was it a Q400 or 100/200/300 series dash?

Dunno, i can't find anything more about it at the moment. Apparently it happened around 9pm last night.

I have a mate here who works on Q400's on weekends. He puckered when he saw this as well hehe.

I don't think Qantaslink has any 100's though.

Well on a positive note well done to the crew involved. I dont know all the details and wont speculate but if they seemed to circle the airport then they obviously did all they could with a successful outcome.

Congratulations :D

Can we just combine the SAS thread and blame it on the Swiss?:}

'scuse me...please continue...

Could be a few tricky questions to answer if it is a Q400, but then the SAS problems were not nose wheel related...

As lofty as the journalistic credentials of the Daily Tele are, something not quite right with the report.

Agree about SAS however Air Nippon had a Q400 land with nose gear retracted in Japan last March.

Cheers

Wynsock, I think you might be correct about the Telegraph article. According to SMH, they actually got the nose wheel down and "landed without incident"

Yet another example of pathetic journalism! The gear was down with three greens BEFORE the a/c experienced a hydraulic malfunction. The a/c still landed with ALL three gears in the down and locked positions.

Hang on a minute, is there a story here at all?

Eighteen passengers, nerve wracking blah blah...

(a) crew was forced to use a back-up system (http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23245749-5001028,00.html) to lower its nose wheel before making an emergency landing.

or is it this one?

(b) their plane malfunctioned and was forced to make an emergency landing without its nose wheel. (http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23245171-5001021,00.html)

or

(c) there is no story.

The Daily Telegraph / Courier Mail for Journalism at its finest.:hmm:

There is also the media beat up technique in adding reference to a totally unrelated Qantas incident. Lucky the journalist didn't know that I recently avoided a bad landing in slipping on a piece of lettuce in a Qantas Club.

or was the headline "QANTAS Heavy landings and Food Scare cause significant drops in passengers"

seems like the Dash 8 has problems left and right.... after the problem with the main landing gear, now it's the nose... :ugh:

Well that's a bit unfair on the Swiss isn't it? You sure you don't mean the Swedes? ;)

Those comments I am sure are very damming for QL given they are totally untrue. I bet they don't run a story in tomorrows paper outlining the real happenings.

I wonder if QL have any grounds for legal action against The Daily Telegraph for making such comments.

With a damages payout maybe they could buy a new fleet or pay their pilots a bit better.:E

The proper story is on the ninemsn website. It's hardly newsworthy though. Aircraft lands safely.......Wow!!! That never happens...

Journalist spinning crapp again ! Experts on every subject,I wish I was that good !
If any of these idiots actually knew what went behind the scenes, and done some kind of story into what airlines put their pilots through during cyclics and initial endorsement training in the sim,I'm sure their stupid misinformed stories would be somewhat published with a more positive slant.

Anyone know anything about another QLink DH8 nosewheel issue in YSCB yesterday?
