It's sadly ironic that the Canadian government have announced (http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?ContentBlockID=5500a3e7-384c-48ac-a5dd-b3423918f104&) a $19.6 million investment in Diamond, an Austrian manufacturer, while such support for industry is banned in Europe. Our (the British) government's idea of support for Austrian and German manufacturers is to introduce a tax that doubles the price of Jet A for diesel engined aircraft.

Don't mention the war!

Surely not - when the UK gov can close off a fraud case to protect the interests of the arms manufacturer BAe when threatened by the Saudi government, you mean that they can't support a GA manufacturer that could create a lot of manufacturing jobs?

I find that hard to believe.

Diamond do have a substantial manufacturing facility in London, Ontario.

This sort of state assistance is quite normal if you want to generate or keep jobs, the UK governments have invested quite heavily in Airbus (a French company) to encourage them to keep on building wings here.
