ONTPax, I can agree that it's very interesting. I just finished it. There is a paperback edition which I think is less expensive that $79.99 (unless those are not USD); I just got my copy at a conference and I'm pretty sure the price was US$24. It's mostly a history of US flight attendants, but the labour history is fascinating. (And as an aside, the shoes are pretty hot!)

Drew Whitelegg also has a book out, "Working the Skies: The Fast-Paced, Disorienting World of the Flight Attendant". I haven't read that one yet, but it's next on my list :8

The book is offered in both hardbound and paperback, and the website page from Duke University Press lists both prices.
