I planned to do a bit of local flying yesterday and decided to fly into a few of the local airfields.

Landed at Fife to be told the landing charge has gone up by a massive 25% now £10.00 with no voucher for my cup of T.

The good old days have truly gone.:*:*

Nice wind up. A tenner for a landing fee and you are bitching?

Would you like to say that £10 is the end of the world?

Well it's not the end of the world:=.

I'm sure over time I'll get used to it.

Bread has gone up 25p, or whatever,

an egg 5p, or whatever,

Each is a 25% increase, but its still only 25p and 5p,

I charge £200 and hour, and its just gone up to £250, only 25%,

but 25% is still 25%.

£10 might be cheap, and so might £12.50, but it is still a 25% increase.

Just a different perspective perhaps, just a different way on reading what was posted.

In all fairness a landing fee that has gone up by £8 to £10 is irrelevant really.

I'd much prefer to pay £10 if it meant that the airport could turn a profit and justify it's existance. If they need the 25% increase to survive, then paying £2 extra isn't really much in the scheme of flying.

However loosing a airport which (still) have very cheap landing fees, because the airport isn't financially viable, is significant in the scheme of flying.

DP,

With "revolving number management technique" like that there's a seat in government waiting for you whenever you're ready ! :p;)

Are you joking? I'm based at Blackpool, they charge me £14 a circuit, and to go the Hawarden, the most boring airfield in christendom, they charge me £18. I would keep quiet if I were you.

Dublinpiot, I have two questions for you.

(1)

I'm an accountant.....I'm allowed to make up the numbers how ever I like

Can you not now see how perfect a politician you would make, particularly in the Lying Scotman's cabinet ?

(2) Is it true that a lot of pubs in Dublin close on Paddy's day ? (I ask because a bunch of us were planing to come and bring some Yorkshire missionary zeal to your neck of the woods on said splendid occasion, but have been put off by some Irish types who say that we'll never get into the few pubs that stay open)

1. I don't know much about his cabinet ;)

2. In the past many of the city centre pubs have closed on St Patrick's Day to help avoid street crime problems. I seem to remember that it's only for the few hours around the parade, and by evening time they are all open again. I'm not sure if they are closing this year or not. To be honest I've never bothered going into the city on St Patrick's Day...too much traffic and closed off streets. If you stay away from the parade route I imagine you would be fine.....certainly any distance from the city centre, and every pub will be open.

Also watch the following weekend. Good Friday every pub must close by law.

I'm based there so we don't pay landing fees:D
The tea went up from 70p to 75p also, disgraceful.
Go to Perth, it's £12 & it's got 3 runways, average £4 per runway so it's cheaper.
By the way all Scottish Bridge Tolls are now free, so drive there.
