I started the same thread on another website but thought people here might enjoy the opportunity to have a turn too. So far we have:
A charm of Cessnas (A rattle of Cessnas has been rejected by me as I like C152s so watch it!) :E
A briefcice (it's wot 'is brief 'as innit? according to the author) of Pipers - Think about it! My preference would be for "a pestilence of Pipers"
A noise of Yaks
A dazzle of Diamonds (I also like Diamonds, especially the DA40TDi)
Please continue :)

It's actually a 'misplot' of navigators,
A 'confusion' of co-pilots
A 'reactive load' of AEOs
An 'embarassment' of Air Engineers
and, of course...
A 'superiority' of captains

Let's not forget a gaggle of gliders and for Pipers, it should be a tribe.

A herd of Yaks.

A gathering of pilots must surely be 'a swarm of flies'.

But what's the collective noun for "Flying Instructors" - often racked my brain for a good one but not succeeded so far!
