NPPL course recommendations, cambs.

Hi,
After a long time saving, i'm just about ready to start my nppl.

I could use some more advice on the best way of approaching it though. I have to go down the 'NPPL' route as my eyesight is just out of the PPL Class 2 Medical regs, and being obsessed with flying, this is my ONLY option to ever learn!

I've been to Skyline Aviation @ Gransden in the past for a trial lesson and therefore have currently put them at the top of the list. I was recommended to them, they seemed nice enough and the are very close to me. Although I don't know enough people in the field to know either way!
I'm not too aware of others locally so am interested to hear from anyone who's trained there or elsewhere. I have considered MASFC although there has been a mentioned to me that they are not the best value for money, but any other feedback would be good. Also, as i'm only fractionally 'out' on my visual prescription, if the parameters were to change in the future it would be nice to know if/how i'd go about progressing an nppl to a ppl - is this possible?

I'm in no rush to gain my license and cost isn't a massive issue but, equally, like anything, I'd like to do it somewhere that's got a good reputation for good, thorough, informative and 'nurturing' training as i'd like to get the most (not that there is alot) out of my NPPL if/when I get it!

Any feedback, on any level will be greatly received.

I know they did have a branch at Peterboro, which may have split from the Oxford branch, they will give you the details in sure
think about nppl m rather than nppl sep, cheaper, easier, just as much fun, half the price to buy / rent / share

The Nppl M route is worthy of consideration. However, is there ANY aircraft in the class which has more than 2 seats?

I also never knew the circuit would be such an issue, frankly i'm so keen to learn that any circuit will be an eye opener to me. I always presumed i'd be learning on a grass runway anyway, does this stand a new pilot in good stead or is a grass runway

I think i'd prefer to do it in a SEP, being obsessed by aircraft (bigger the better!), the roar and rattle of a climb, while my passengers and I sit comfortably inside is what it's all about to me!

Does anybody have any feedback on Skyline Aviation?
I have read a few archived posts I found, but they are a few years old.

.... There are arguments for and against grass runways - Conington's is ashphalt, which means there's one less thing to bring a halt to the flying.

Continuity is a major consideration when you are learning - and what with our 'climate' playing it's hand to restrict flying, having a runway which does not get waterlogged is well worth contemplating.

Most important thing IMHO is to visit the places you are considering to get a feel for the instructors, aircraft and amenities.

I've done a fair bit with MASF and the people and aircraft are top notch. Best way I guess is to pay a visit to a few places and see what you think! :ok:

You must have some doubts or you wouldn't be asking this question after your visit for a trial lesson.

I recently moved to the area and attempted to fly from L.Gransden which involved joining Skyline.
My experience was "Bad", they were very clique-ish and wary of strangers... I like to think of myself as an open person but they certainly did not return the compliment... as a result I will not now ever go near the place again.

My neighbour regularly flies from Bourn and Conington and rates them both.
Me? I'm scouting around for a share in a Jodel/Cub in a quiet field somewhere far away from L.G.

Yes, I have heard bad reports. I don't know enough about any school to know what's good and bad, as a beginner i'm a little naive hence posting this thread.

Bourn seems to be a big contender at the moment, had a trial lesson @ Connington a long time ago, was good also although they seem quite expensive.
