It was announced in the Sunday Herald:

http://www.sundayherald.com/news/heraldnews/display.var.2014900.0.routine_fingerprinting_at_heathrow_pro vokes_outrage.php#comments

that the BAA and BA are introducing biometric fingerprinting at Heathrow.

Does anyone know whether there are any circumstances where this will apply to aircrew?

It wasn't announced in the Sunday Herald, it was announced ages ago and has been used on a considerable number of passengers who have flown domestically with BA over the past few months. An old story rehashed.

Thanks but it is not the currency of the news item that interests me.

Are crew being asked to give their fingerprints too?

Isn't the current biometric system favoured for passengers Iris testing? Not fingerprints which are unreliable....

"Biometric" is a buzzword/ buzzadjective used by the ignorant to imply that they know what they're talking about.

A signature is biometric. "X" ("his/her" mark under Scots Law) as a signature is "biometric".

IMHO, the "terrorists" are winning millions of propaganda battles every day.

The people here know what they're talking about: http://www.lightbluetouchpaper.org/2007/03/09/passports-and-biometric-certificates-i/

(Edited to explain Scots Law principle. Probably not very well.)

Biometric" is a buzzword/ buzzadjective used by the ignorant to imply that they know what they're talking about. If you take what you are saying then read your link, then all of those posting on it are ignorant. They just continually use the 'Buzzword'.

DEFINITION: Biometrics is the science and technology of measuring and analysing biological data. In information technology, biometrics refers to technologies that measure and analyse human body characteristics, such as fingerprints, eye retinas and irises, voice patterns, facial patterns and hand measurements, for authentication purposes.
