Beechcraft 1900D Tail Height

A colleague of mine and I were having an argument about where the tail height of this aircraft Beechcraft 1900D was measured from.

He said it was measured from the belly of the aircraft ie, wheels up.

I reckon its measured from the ground, wheels down.

If anyone can shed some light on this would be great thanks. Preferably if you can supply a website with a diagram proving it, would be fantastic.

This is direct from the B1900D factory manual....

454.2cm (14' 10.8") measurd from the ground line i.e wheels down on the ground.

I don't have a web reference I'm afraid.

Why, unless you were planning some very close formation flying, would you want to know the tail height of an aircraft without including the bits supporting it on the ground?:ooh: It's unlikey to fly under something for which the tail height is critical, but it might be a bit tall for some hangars.
