Hi there,

Can anyone out there give me some advice regarding a visit to ATC Heathrow?

I am in the first stages of the interview process with NATS and am very keen to arrange a trip 'to the tower' to get some insight into what it is actually like to work there. I currently work at Heathrow, but have no contacts over there to start the ball rolling!

Any clues would be appreciated....

Well, you need a 600 ft ladder to start with!!

I expect one of the current people will contact you and I hope you can get up there... Great place and even greater people.

Good luck with trying to organise a visit. We were required to visit the new tower from West Drayton for familiarisation before it opened. It took two hours to process us through the security system and eventually walk the walk through the terminal to the tower. The view was worth it! However, due to the security problems and the need for non NATS or BAA staff to be escorted, I think it highly likely that your request may prove impossible.:bored:

It does take a looong time for visitors to get up to the tower if you can arrange it. I would suggest perhaps a landside tower visit, Luton?

Apparently if you're a lift engineer you get swift processing......
